WHY BE SOMETHING YOU'RE NOT Featuring: Necros Negative Approach The Displaced Crucifucks Fate Unknown The Misfits |
Why Be Something You're Not was a public access show run by punks in Detroit. There were two known episodes filmed, the first featuring interviews and performances by the Necros, Negative Approach, and The Displaced, and the second with interviews and performances by the Crucifucks, Fate Unknown, and the Misfits. The interviews are pretty uninspiring (nobody in the bands, except for maybe Corey Rusk of the Necros, seems to be comfortable talking on camera) but the performances are mostly great. The Necros mainly play stuff from the Conquest for Death LP, Negative Approach do a fucking great set with material from the EP and LP plus a few unreleased songs, and the Crucifucks play most of the good songs from their first LP. When the Crucifucks play, the crowd (most of whom were probably there to see the Misfits) seems a little off-put, but the band is excellent nonetheless. The Displaced (a really young band who never ended up releasing anything except for maybe a demo tape) and Fate Unknown are both cool. For one reason or another, the sound quality for the Misfits' set is way below any of the other bands, rendering it almost unwatchable. I can barely make out what song they're playing half the time. The crowd seems to dig it though.
