This LP compiles all the recorded material of both bands (I think?) featuring similar lineups from Holland in the 1980s. While neither hard nor fast, this rocks in such an unbelievably classic way that I cannot imagine anyone not warming up to this distinctly old and European style (half DISCHARGE, half-Oi!, half garage)- after a couple of listens. The mood varies from pissed to pensive, with hilarious lyrics: "When you would be dressed like a normal girl, you wouldn't get laid at all. But disguised as a punk rock slut, you get banged through the wall... Go get out of your jogging suit, let our passion fondle your tits. Even when you look like a tart, we ride in between your tits." Pure poetry. Amazingly, the band formed when Jesus (the singer) and his brother were 15 and 12 years old, respectively! The little brother got kicked out because he was stoned all the time, and the band became popular, playing with such bands as THE EX and MDC (they call THE EX "a bunch of wankers," and claim to have stolen all of THE EXPLOITED's beer at one gig!). THE GOSPELFUCKERS broke up without ever releasing a record. Later the singer Jesus joined AGENT ORANGE, who are similar but with (mostly) different songs. AGENT ORANGE has girl vocals on some songs, courtesy of Vallerie. This band managed to actually put out two 7"s. This band seems to have lived a fairly scummy lifestyle, living in squats and constantly being fucked up on drugs; as Jesus says in the liner notes, "We were drunk all the time and we all fucked Vallerie." Regardless of how this band would be received today, this is an excellent and much-needed release that puts a huge fucking smile on my face. Bonus points for the ugliest, hugest poster I've ever seen.
