Band History and Photos compiled by Jake Smith

Police State was formed in 1982 and featured several line-ups in its short career, all revolving around vocalist Jake Smith. The most stable one featured the rhythm section of Mike Bordin and Billy Gould, later of Faith No More, and an "annoying German" named Sebastian. Their 3-song demo was recorded by Billy on his 4-track and had Jake playing all the instruments himself.

Although the demo received airplay on the Maximum Rock'n'Roll radio show, the band had trouble keeping things together. Police State folded in 1983 after Jake was asked to join the band Crucifix.
