SOMETHING TO PROVE LP
We Bite, 1987 (Germany)
Manic Ears, 1987 (UK)
Boner, 1987 (US)
Musically, this record is great. Hardcore thrash, but the songs are interesting and catchy, melodic but not poppy (except, maybe, "Try Again"). I'd love this LP if it weren't for the lyrics, which despite the fact that they later apologized for their sexism, still leave a bad taste in my mouth. It's strange, because many of the songs, such as "Something to Prove," are right on. But they just ruin it with songs like "What a Bitch Is" or "Bed Tool." I like to think I can handle "un-PC" lyrics, but these are just vindictive attacks on women. Unfortunately misplaced anger...
