freshman year when i was in college

either way i would have given her the world to stay
but she did not want me
i felt wrongly rejected
so i wrote a lot of songs to accept it
but they never ease the pain for good
when your heart's been stripped like some painted wood
i miss the way that she would stare at me
a sad love song can be good therapy
 
Why do i write love songs for girls
who have long moved on to a different part of the world
is it because i must
 cause a love song is made to stay
and unlike love and trust
and the things that fade away
or maybe the reason i believe in singing songs to girls gone by
i want to bring them back
