Status: PhD student (ABD). I am also currently a Research Assistant in computational linguistics in the Computing Laboratory at Oxford University. Research interests: In linguistics, my main field of interest is semantics. My dissertation addresses the syntax, semantics, and morphology of conversion (zero-derivation) and related processes cross-linguistically. I also have an enduring interest in the semantics of habituals and other generics. In computational linguistics, I am working on porting the C&C parser to the biomedical domain. I am interested in parsing and related machine learning problems. In Spring 2005 I was a visiting Ph.D. student at the Institute for Logic, Language, and Computation at the University of Amsterdam. Papers and Presentations: "Adapting a Lexicalized-Grammar Parser to Contrasting Domains" (with Stephen Clark). Poster, to appear in Proceedings of the Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP-08), Honolulu, Hawaii, 2008. (Poster) (Paper) "Constructing a Parser Evaluation Scheme" (with Stephen Clark). In Proceedings of the COLING Workshop on Cross-Framework and Cross-Domain Parser Evaluation, pp.44-50, Manchester, UK, 2008. (Paper) "Linguistically Motivated Parsing of Biomedical Text" (with Stephen Clark). Poster, Finding the Hidden Knowledge: Text Mining for Biology and Medicine, Glasgow, February 21-22, 2008. (Poster) "Split Antecedents in VP Ellipsis". Poster, NELS 37, UIUC, October 13-15, 2006. (Abstract) (Paper) "Greek Demonstratives: Binding, Reference, and Ostension".
