This is a 2 minute film that Japhy Riddle and I made in a cardboard box. We completed it in just 15 hours using a Sony Hi8 camcorder, Sony Digital 8mm camcorder and a Video Tool Works Video Lunchbox. We shot directly to the box then digitized and edited in Adobe Premiere, completing the film with Sound Design in Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge XP. At this point Japhy and I had just completed "Zone 3," a plot-less but mysterious tech-noir in the style of Jan Svankmeyer and the Brother's Quay. We are heavily inspired by their aesthetics of biomorphic imagery and dark environments made from found objects. We decided to move into the world of digital editing for the first time. This enabled us to do more complicated sound design as well as tighter cutting. Before, we had used AB roll 8mm editing, incamera editing and Beta SP machines.
