Band history compiled by Johnny, discography by Jon K. and Johnny Direct Action from Toronto, Ontario, started in the early 80s. Vocalist Tim and bassist Dave from the St. Catherines band the Unknowns joined up with Xig on guitar and Mike on drums. Their 1984 demo tape captures the band at their earlier, faster period. One of the songs appeared on the Canadian compilation LP Primative Air-Raid. After the demo, Xig left and was replaced by Buzz from the Toronto band A.P.B. In 1985, Direct Action recorded and released their Trapped In A World LP. By this time, they had slowed down a little for a more heavy, polished sound. German label Bitzcore reissued a collection of songs from the demo and the LP in 1989. Bassist Dave played in Son of Bronto and currently plays for the Class Assassins. Sadly, Tim died in late 1999/early 2000. |
