KANSAN UUTISET
Bio and discography compiled by Markku

Kansan Uutiset This band was known in Finland for its crazy live shows and Saasta's big mohawk. Some moments of their shows have been captured for future generations to see, so some video exists, search for those! The band seemed to live to the old punk slogan "No Future". It really seemd that they didn't care, and obviously they didn't! Chaos and all kinds of obnoxiousness followed these guys everywhere they went. That was hardcore 'til the bone, and that certainly is a fact!!

Their only official release was 1984's Beautiful Dreams LP on Rock-O-Rama. It includes 18 songs and among those are two covers. "Now I Wanna Fuck Your Dog" which originally is called "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by Stooges and "Saastalle se on" which originally was "You've Got What I Like" by Gerry & The Pacemakers. There is also the curious double 7" bootleg that pairs the band with Washington DC's The Faith.

Too bad that so many people missed them, since they only exixted a couple of years in the early 80's. Their bass player Ökky was also in another crazy (and drunken!!!) Finnish band called Maho Neitsyt. Maybe it was alcohol, maybe it was just general "no future" feeling or maybe growing out of it was the reason that they only existed for couple of years. Haven't heard from them since, and I guess we won't. Ever again.
