LYRICS

JONESTOWN ALOHA! LP
Vögelspin, 1983
A lot of people seem to prefer the White Male Dumbinance 7", but in my opinion this is BGK's best release. I remember hearing it for the first time when I was sixteen and had not heard any Dutch hardcore before... It made me feel kinda proud actually. The recordings are not that great and the lyrics are hard to understand, but BGK's raw power is obvious from the opening drum salvo on 'Pray For Peace And Kill For Christ', one of the greatest intros I've ever heard (the 'Halleluja' part is cool as well). Taking it from there, they rage through an endless stream of fast and catchy (yet not melodic) hardcore that seems to be influenced by Discharge and MDC, but is really original. The two slower songs are a little boring, but I guess any band should have a couple of those... A Dutch punk fanzine gave this LP five stars, which meant 'genius'. The little girl intro is great: 'Ik vind punk rotmuziek. Geef mij maar gewone muziek waar je goed op kan dansen...' ('I think punk is lousy music. I prefer normal music that you can dance to...').
