I was just reading Felix Von Havoc's column in MRR the other day and he mentioned Spain's all girl punk band Las Vulpess, and how he didn't knew much about them, besides the fact that they rocked. Well, that was the case with me too, as I only knew their 7", which was re-issued in a package containing other rare early 80's Spanish 7"s (La Uvi, Ox Pow and Eskorbuto). Previously I had the track on the Bloodstains Across Spain compilation (B-side of said single) and the same track live, along with "Anarkia en TV" on some cool early 80's compilation tape a pen pal made for me long time ago. In any case, while looking for something else on the net, I was glad to come across an interview with Loles, Vulpess guitar player. It pretty much sums up the history of the band, so instead of resuming it for a bio, I decided to translate it in order to add a little bit of Spanish punk history to the international punk community. So just go there and check it out. Spanish is my mother tongue, but since I'm originally from Latin America, I probably made several mistakes while translating it - Spaniards (or people who know better) are invited to go to the site in Spanish (es.geocities.com/neuronas_en_huelga/entrevista_Loles.htm)
and correct my mistakes. And while you're at it, there are many classic Spanish bands that need a bio so start writing, joder!Ah, the Vulpess 7" is really great, especeally the infamous "Me Gusta Ser Una Zorra". The music is actually more '77 punk/garage and catchy then most of the stuff on this site, but still aggresive enough to grab every punk's attention. Too bad they didn't make at least another record. If you would like to try another garage-y, early 80's Spanish punk band with a female vocalist, you may as well get the Desechables LP on Munster.
