NO SECURITY
God, I find writing these introductions a real struggle and it shows. Anyway, No Security are one of Sweden's best Hardcore acts I think. To tell the truth, I had not even heard of them six months ago, but when I got the split album with Doom what a pleasant surprise, a well awesome performance. So read on folks. That's another one out of the way.
Interview from Garbled Tales zine #2 (UK), 1990
GT: Could you set the scene with No Security story so far?
NS: I think I have set the scene with our story about a hundred times before but here it is once again: Back in '85 we started up with Jallo behind the drums, Harri on vocals and guitar and Snako playing the bass. Since then we have had several guitarists and Shebbo was the one playing on the records but now he has left the band and Kenko is handling the guitar and is now just singing. Puh!
GT: What records have you released?
NS: The first record was an EP which was released in '87 by Studienframjandet and re-released by Chickenbrain Records, '89. The second was a split EP with Cruel Maniax in '88 and now the split with Doom. We are also on the comp. LP Really Fast vol. 4.
GT: How did the split LP with Doom come about?
NS: I sent out demos and the first EP to Hammy on Peaceville. He thought that it sounded OK and gave us and offer to join Doom on their LP and on that was is it.
GT: Have you had much good feedback from the LP?
NS: Yes, very good response, but there is not many Swedes who has received it yet, so from this LP it is mainly foreign people who has contacted us, pretty much from England.
GT: What's it like getting gigs in Sweden?
NS: It isn't too often we get out to play here in Sweden, cause there is always a lot of struggle with the gigs, they are cancelled and so on. Sometimes there are Skinheads at the gigs, and it is almost always ending up in a quarrel. But sure, it is always fun to play.
GT: What bands have been an influence on you, any current bands you enjoy?
NS: I have always liked Discharge and Varukers, but they are not an influence. Current fave bands are Extreme Noise Terror, Filthkick and of course Totalitär, Sweden's finest.
GT: Any new Swedish bands we should be looking out for?
NS: The good bands in Sweden are G-Anx and Totalitär, but I’m sure you have already heard of them, if not do it at once. Otherwise, I don't think there are good bands from Sweden. The scene was better when Skitlickers, Anti-Cimex and Asocial (old) existed.
GT: We never seem to hear much about what's happening politics-wise in Sweden, could you fill us in?
NS: As I think you all know, our prime minister, Olof Palme, was murdered three years ago and since then, the politicians only seem to bother about the murder, so they arrested a guy just to have a black sheep to blame it all on, and I am sure he's innocent, but they have now let him go. I'm also sure this guy was only arrested because the police had to get a victim just to hide their incompetence from the pressure of the mass media. Now we have a new elected Prime Minister and it's a Social Democrat Party. There are four other parties but the difference it's so small it does not matter who is the running. The only thing they can't agree about is the poll tax, nobody seems to care about the real big problems. I can't say that Sweden is a disaster, but there are lot of unnecessary laws just to protect the jet set. The Swedish government is the same, assholes as the rest of the pack, they're just talking bullshit about peace and still they mass-export weapons to other countries. It doesn't matter who is running Sweden cause they are just a bunch of power hungry suckers. Fuck off! But the majority does not seem to understand that fact. I think you should be glad for your unemployment in England cause in Sweden you can't survive without one.
GT: What plans do you have for the future musically and personally? Any new records?
NS: We are just writing new songs for a new, own LP. Personally, I do not have any future plans, except keep up writing lyrics and music, having fun and making new friends. We are also making a tour in England in the summer of '90.
GT: What hopes and fears do you have for the future?
NS: I hope that people stop trusting the politicians because it is there where the power, greed and evil lays. Fears, there are the final nuclear war which will destroy the earth of course. I do also fear a nature disaster, these fears are just a small piece of all these scary things that happen around us.
GT: Anything you want to add?
NS: Thanx to you Ian for the interview. Hello to Stick and Pete of Doom. Hi to E.N.T. and Filthkick. If anyone can help us getting gigs for the forthcoming tour, we would appreciate it if you could contact me. It will probably take place in the middle of July and Totalitär will join us.
