If case you needed some more proof, when French fascist skinheads wanted to listen to hardcore in the 80's, they systematically chose Agnostic Front. After such a trip into the collective brains of that bunch of true Lower East Side tough guys, I know why, and I hate understanding English. What a load of fucking nationalistic skinhead bullshit!!! Have a glance at the (in)famous "Public Assistance" lyrics and draw your own conclusions. Petrus/Peter Steele was at it again with his trio Carnivore (two metalcore LP's worth of the trashcan, with more examples of his incredible political wit, as the hymn "U.S.A. for U.S.A." featured on the Retaliation LP). In addition to its highly dubious lyrical content, this LP sucks big time musicwise! Ill omen of what NYHC more than often turned into from this one on until today (read: mere heavy/thrash/death metal), this slab o'wax reeks of thick, boring metal/hardcore crossover with emphasis on vapid guitar wanking (oops, sorry, I meant powerful metal sound) which raises a lot of dust and gets nowhere. Just cause your tattooed hardcore muscles are bigger don't mean you play better. Duh! My advice would be to stick to the first recordings if you really want to listen to this nevertheless influential band.
