Reviews:

I think the Wait EP captures Articles of Faith at their peak. It is really fucking brilliant. The guitar work on this record, especially on "I've Got Mine," is for the most part beyond my level of comprehension. Joe Scudari and Vic Bondi are somehow able to combine two discordant melodies into one perfect, beautiful whole. The mood of the EP (not to mention the almost completely black sleeve) is dark, and each song conveys a sense of desperate urgency. "Wait" and "Buy This War" are both great hardcore songs, but "I've Got Mine" is something more than that. Whether they were writing about politics or personal topics, AOF had some of the best and most intelligent lyrics out there, and this record is no exception. I don't know what else I can say. These songs are included on the Core LP - find it, it could change your life...

This is the follow-up to their first classic EP and once again every song is amazing. "I've Got Mine" speaks in the voice of a self-satisfied Reaganite yuppie as the music drones on steadily, but Vic Bondi's bitter voice and the exploding chorus turn the words on themselves. Side B is all about speed - it starts off with "Wait," which maintains the melodic aspect of "I've Got Mine," but faster so that Bondi's words come in fragments. The chorus is a masterpiece of stop-start hardcore. "Buy This War," one the band's best songs, is an insightful attack on the modern war-for-profit scenario perfected by Reagan. In their mind-blowing songwriting, Articles of Faith combine the Effigies' amazing buzzsaw guitar work with the sweeping power of Jerry's Kids hardcore anthems. They are easily one of my top five favorite hardcore bands.
