Reviews:

Released posthumously in 1985, this LP is still amazing Big Boys punk rock. As usual, they manage to deliver angsty hardcore and total dance mania on the same record. "What's the Word?" is possibly the most dancible, funky song they did. Contrasting it to the similarly instrumentally-focused "We Got Soul" shows how far the Big Boys came in the funk department. "No Love" is also a major standout here. It has the darkness of some of Biscuit's earlier lyrics but with a more personal slant, and the music totally rages. "Which Way to Go" is also a great surprise, marking yet another sound the Big Boys mastered. This tune, yearning and melodic, would fit right in on Hüsker Dü's Everything Falls Apart 12". They don't fare so well with the attempted hip-hop instrumental "Common Beat," but it isn't terrible either. The final Big Boys LP is not as raw as the 12", not as focused as Lullabyes, but it shows that even in their final days this was a band that was writing amazing songs and breaking new ground.
