Info:
The second punk rock album I ever got, after Nevermind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols. I really don't care to much for that album anymore, but this album is still and will always be one of my favorites, just because of the simple fact that this is the album that changed my life. When I heard it I was 13, I was very angry, someone close to me had just died, and I was suicidal... until I heard the hi-hat and snare that begins "Rise Above" and found myself jumping all over my room, going completely insane. I had found my calling, and it was in four chords, hyperfast drumming, and screaming. I was hooked. The first side is the more "well-known" songs, like "Police Story", "Rise Above", the infamous "Six Pack", and many more... but what captivated me the most was the starkness and almost damn scariness of side two... every song opening with Greg Ginn turning on his amp and then blowing the fucking speakers out of my cd player out. The last 8 songs are walls of noise, with "Life of Pain" and the slow as sludge "Damaged I" being highlights. If you've never heard punk rock, I think this is a damn fine starting place, and I suggest finding it in any way, on vinyl, tape, CD or 8-track. Tape it, download it, steal it, it doesn't matter... just make sure to listen to it.
