Reviews:
This is my personal favorite Black Flag record. Lots of Flag fans say that Chavo/Ron Reyes was a forgettable vocalist, but when I listen to these songs, I sense a whole kind of obnoxious and snotty charm that not even Morris had in him. All of these songs are classic Black Flag, with my favorite song "Revenge" opening with Reyes yelping: "It's not my imagination--I've got a gun on my back!" "No Values" captures early Flag at their most anthemic, with great nihilistic lyrics. The only song on this EP that isn't so amazing is the last one, "You Bet We've Got Something Personal Against You", which has bassist Chuck Dukowski taking over lead vocals. It's not THAT bad of a song, but it does take the overall power of the record down a bit. All the Black Flag material is in print and really easy to track down, so you'd be a fool for not picking up this individual record, or the First Four Years collection which has all the Flag songs recorded before the Damaged LP on it.

Hardest of the hardcore on the L.A. punk scene. Black Flag's raw and vital energy has detonated explosive riots at numerous gigs, bringing them to the eye of attention for the punk majority along with their appearance on NBC's "Tomorrow Show". Leading representation of "you can do what you want to do", Black Flag's not going to tell you how to run your life. And Black Flag has the largest following of any decent punk act in America. Their Jealous Again EP is charged full of intense, cranium crunching ability that is so swift and rapid you will find yourself thrashing to the brink of excitement. Featuring incredibly fast numbers like "White Minority", "Revenge", and "No Values" (also featured on Rodney on the ROQ), Black Flag proves they're an extreme power of the punk generation. Skinheads never had it so good. Also recommended is Black Flag's classic single, "Nervous Breakdown", both feature the arousing artwork of Raymond Pettibone. For full effect you must play Jealous Again at 45 rpm, not the usual 33. No lie.

An amazingly raw, hardcore band from Hermosa Beach that is only now recieving recognition in the Bay Area and elsewhere. Black Flag may be the ultimate American punk group...
