Reviews:

Gray Matter can play pop/punk teenage anthems with the powerful straight-forwardness of the Ramones and they are frequently adding a few twists. Marginal Man is another band that comes to mind. To be honest, this LP did take a while to really hit me in the gut but it certainly has. The songs are often hook-laden and usually distorted. Sometimes they are even slow and almost soft but never wimpy. At times the easy-to-relate-to and personal lyrics make you want to yell out the words, especially in songs like "Gray Matter", and "Retrospect." They do a cover of "I Am the Walrus", which I didn't believe possible, but they actually pull it off all the way down to the barking and parade noises at the end. An excellent debut.
