This isn't really philosophy. Unlike everything else here.

I remember from high-school psychology that if one puts a pigeon in a cage with a lever connected to a food dispenser, where (randomly) some taps of the lever will result in food appearing, the pigeon develops a pattern of taping the lever regularly.

We get emails pretty randomly. And we check email regularly.
