How to use the Projection Table in the Lab

Before you test your applet with the projection table in the lab, please foloow the instruction to modify your java appliccation first.

  1. Login into the computer BIRD in the lab with the username and password I provided on the mailing-list. You have to choose "Log into this computer only".
  2. Go into the directory advmulti_tablevision/ on the desktop, open the workspace file to run the server.
  3. After the server starts, select either the SRC or the DST window and calibrate by pressing the 'c' key until the Thick box is centered on the outline of the table.
  4. Connect the overhead projector to the computer that will be running the appication.
  5. Make sure the lighting is enough, ie, you can see the 4 pucks on table in the DST window on the server. Usually turning on the overhead light is enough.
  6. Start up the game. For best experience, move and adjust the window so it covers the whole table.
  7. Press 'c' to calibrate the client. A red dot will show up. Put one puck at the red dot, and it will move to the next one. Repeat this 4 times. Be careful to hide the puck completely when moving to the next spot, or the sensitive system might send out premature event.
  8. At this point you should be able to run the application with the pucks.

If you have any question with the system, please e-mail me at DCL255(at)NYU.EDU.
