Paph. Bel Royal
(kolopakingii x rothschildianum 'Charles E.' FCC/AOS)
Registered in 1996 by the Eric Young Orchid Foundation, Paph. Bel Royal is the primary hybrid between the incomparable
rothschildianum and the gargantuan kolopakingii. Like so many other hybrids in section Coryopedilum, Paph. Bel Royal is
a most impressive synthesis of its parents. Paph. rothschildianum greatly increases the flower size and contributes the
boldly-striped dorsal, while Paph. kolopakingii increases the flower count on mature plants and passes on the golden-honey
petal coloration. The only drawback is the massive plant size from the kolopakingii, as the leafspan on mature Bel Royal
growths routinely checks in at a whopping 36-48 inches!
