Paph. Macabre
(Voodoo Magic 'Prince of Darkness' x sukhakulii 'Brawny' HCC/AOS)
One of the more recent trends in vinicolor breeding has been the incorporation of different species into the standard
vinicolor lineage. For example, the aptly-named Paph. Macabre results from the union of the vinicolor hybrid Voodoo Magic
and the species sukhakulii. Although the grex is quite variable in terms of flower color and shape, the original cross
and subsequent re-makes have produced many outstanding clones since its registration in 1990. Indeed, Paph. Macabre has
been the most heavily-awarded paphiopedilum grex in the past decade, with over sixty AOS flower quality awards!
