Phrag. Nitidissimum 'Neville' FCC/AOS

(caudatum x Conchiferum)

Registered in 1888, Phrag. Nitidissimum is one of the classic long-petalled phrag hybrids. It is very similar to the famous Phrag. Grande, with perhaps slightly smaller flowers on average. Over the years, many fine clones of Nitidissimum have been propagated through division, and are relatively attainable today. One such cultivar is 'Neville', which produces richly-colored flowers with petals around 12" in length. It first received an AM/AOS in 1978, but a particularly fine blooming in recent years resulted in an "upgrade" to an FCC/AOS. Nitidissimum is an extremely vigorous grower when given bright light and lots of water.
