Phrag. longifolium 'Woodstream' AM/AOS
Native to a very large area in Central and South America, Phrag. longifolium is one of the most variable species in the genus and has been used prominently in phragmipedium breeding. It was named after its long leaves, and is quite a vigorous grower under a wide variety of conditions. Phrag. longifolium prefers bright light, constant moisture at the roots, and intermediate temperatures. It is successive-flowering, and mature plants with multiple inflorescences are practically ever-blooming.
The cultivar 'Woodstream' has excellent coloration and size for the species, and was awarded an AM/AOS in 1994.
