Jan L. Plass
 
     
 

Jan Plass is an Associate Professor in the Educational Communication and Technology program and the Director of the Consortium for Research and Evaluation of Advanced Technologies in Education (CREATE) at New York University. His research interests include a cognitive approach to the instructional use of multimedia and the web, and the moderating effects that individual differences have on learning in these environments, with a focus on second language acquisition (vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension) and scientific texts. Other interests include the design and development of instructional multimedia and web applications, and particularly issues of information architecture and information design.
