I posted a link for A.I.: The Abridged Script by Rod Hilton a few months ago, and just read another one of his masterpieces for American Psycho. Does this guy know how to party or what!
Steven: My friend told me this story about this guy who gave his cable guy fifty bucks and he got all the movie channels for free. You ever hear about anything like that? Chip Douglas: You're talking about free cable. What was his name? I want it! You have offered me a bribe. What you have done is a felony for which you could be issued a fine or time in a state correctional facility. Steven: No. Just forget I brought it up. Chip Douglas: I'm just messin' with ya. I'm just yankin' your chain . . . boy, are you easy. I'll juice ya up! - The Cable Guy
Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Ben Stiller (director of Cable Guy, Reality Bites; co-author of Feel This Book; his notorious candy bar line in Spielberg's Empire of the Sun; and of course, his MTV stints) but after seeing Zoolander last night (which was highly entertaining! And -- ooh -- there was even a preview for The Royal Tenenbaums, which will perhaps be the best flick this year) I couldn't help drawing parallels to Austin Powers...the pet-stroking villain, jokes on Starbucks, freeze-frame action/glamour shots, MTV-friendly stars, themes of international fame and espionage, Will Ferrell, supermodels (Liz Hurley, Milla Jovovich), and of course, a rockin' soundtrack. Nevertheless, Zoolander delivered some scenes / lines that made me break into uncontrollable laughter ("Surprise!" in the coal mine; Jon Voight's (Mr. Zoolander's) brutal rebuffs of his model son, and of course, every line or gesture that Owen Wilson made). Check it out!
Last night Jeremiah and I trekked downtown to survey the World Trade Center disaster site. We got within a block but military police, barricades, and NYPD held us back. The smell is overwhelming, and the rubble is still smoking because of underground fires. The strangest thing about it is seeing burnt office papers floating in the air.
