Jeremiah and I saw Donnie Darko tonight. Dude, it was amazing. Review soon. I'm making progress in Less than Zero. There are many similarities to American Psycho, but I disregard them because you can't complain about anything that takes place in the 1980s. You just can't.

Pirate's Booty! the best treat since cocaine

And this pigeon is thinking, "Whaddya want from me?"

"People of the world, join hands, start a love train, love train!" (remember the final scene of "The Last Days of Disco?" Subways are lovely places.

Tonight as I started reading Bret Easton Ellis' 1985 novel Less Than Zero, Devanshi, my roomate, under my coercion, read American Psycho in the same room. There were definitely strong Bret Easton Ellis vibes within the room. Less Than Zero is starting off swell. I'm going to rent it when I'm finished reading the story. 80s teen / yuppie satire melodramas rule.

R.E.M.'s newest album, Reveal, is way stellar. It seems to capture better the experimentation that 1998's Up attempted, but still feels detached, unlike their good, good earlier albums Out of Time and Automatic for the People. It's definitely worth a spin.

No Donnie Darko tonight - perhaps this weekend. Thank you much to everyone for today's greetings! I had a radicool birthday.

Galaxy Deli on Third Avenue has the best flowers (and the owner, Manny, rocks).

White trash on 9th Street.

Making faces at Starbucks.

"I'm finally beginning to realize that Duran Duran IS the best British band since the Beatles!"

Aaahhhh!!! (remember Snoop Dogg's "Homeboy Alone" in the music video for "Gin & Juice")

Tonight's the night I'll finally see Donnie Darko. To quote Kevin Spacey in American Beauty, fan-tast-tic.

I learned that the new Hughes Brothers' Jack the Ripper period slasher flick, From Hell, is full of subliminal messages of nudity and random body parts. Hell, even subconsciously, the film's still not interesting to me.

I am severely distraught to report Justine Frischman has officially announced Elastica is no longer. The band only put out two records, but I've been listening to them for six years and have been trying to see them live for years. Oh well - all rockin' things must come to an end. This is a great Elastica site.

"I'm a sonic generator, it's as far as I can take it. Aren't you glad that I can make it, oh oh in the money. Baby put your arms around me, aren't you glad that you have found me? You want it? I've got it...Oh oh on and on it.

I'm a self taught regulator!

Eeny meeny miney moaner, catch a poet by the toga. You want it? I've got it...Oh oh on and on it. I'm a spastic generator, it's as far as I can take it. I was lying!" - Elastica, "Generator"

VH1 rocks. Ample footage on Duran Duran lately for 80s week!! How exciting...they must have known my birthday is in two days.

This site is overly epicurean in terms of food-related photography.

"What's in the [bread]box....what's in the [bread]box!?" (remember Brad Pitt in Seven?)

Out-of-this-world graffiti in the East Village.

Want to see something cheesy? This is a concert review I submitted to a Cardigans site about three years ago, and recently discovered it's still on the web. Shudder.
