So there's this Polish / Ukrainian restaurant next door to my apartment building. I've frequented the restaurant several times, but a few months ago became disgusted upon finding hair in a dish of cole slaw. My roommate barely escaped consuming a rancid muffin there! So as a group of us walked by the restaurant last night, we were elated to see that the city has officially closed the restaurant for health reasons. Shudder.
Hanging out at the Fish with Jeremiah, Devanshi and Jeremy on Saturday night. Saturday night's alright for fightin', Saturday night's alright, alright, alright!
Waiting for the NR at 42nd St. Monday night. Oh yeah, by the way, do not enter or cross tracks.
Jeremiah and I saw Monster's Ball the other day. Billy Bob Thornton is so damn good. Also saw Robert Altman's new movie, Gosford Park, last night, and we're going to see In the Bedroom tonight. I'm going to try to catch up on my film reviews this week.
Last night was the first of two Mission of Burma shows at NYC's Irving Plaza. The punk band broke in the early 80s - this was their first live show together since. Jeremiah, Jeremy, Jared, Christina, Bryan and I all lucked out and got to attend. The band a great rapport with the audience, and announced the show would be delivered old-school fashion - two sets of eleven songs each. Roger and Clint play to the audience wonderfully, and MOB's drummer, Peter, delivered some playful lines himself throughout the show. While MOB's first set was faster and more fierce than the second, both sets were equally rockin' and really tight. Here's MOB's Roger and Clint.

At the show's encore, Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth showed up! As numerous technicians and the musicians spent several minutes tuning, Peter the drummer exclaimed that is the reason he never wanted to play guitar. Here's Roger and Lee Ranaldo.

I hope Mission of Burma doesn't wait another twenty years to play shows together. Go check them out if you wanna rock.
