And now, a joke: Q: What did Sushi A say to Sushi B? A: Wassa B!
I saw something really f'n cool today. I was walking to my apartment, and there's this Belgian fries place on the corner (these fantastic fries are sold in paper funnels with special dipping sauces. Ahh). It must have been delivery time, because there was a truck out front. I saw like, 5,000 bags of potatoes. Really. There were like 5,000 bags of 100-pound potato sacks. I couldn't avert my eyes. It was wild!
Guy in a record store: "Where can I find Duran Duran?" Clerk: "Kmart." - That 80s Show.
Ouch! I hope everyone will be supporting this situation comedy throughout the season, even if it does poke fun at Duran Duran.
Today was the first class of my 1960s-1970s American Film course. It rocks! My professor screened French New Wave clips, and the feature was Richard Lester's A Hard Day's Night. Man, that movie is ill! I love when Paul's grandfather says hello to the band, and John exclaims in surprise, "He can talk then, can he?, and Paul replies, " Of course he can talk. He's a human being, isn't he?" and Ringo says, "Well if he's your grandfather, who knows! Ha ha ha!"
Hahaha. Good times. Or...I guess you had to be there.
I've created a multiple choice quiz so you can guess what I'm doing. Am I: a) eating my scarf b) scratching my head c) singing a Devo tune d) none of the above
Thanks to Jeremiah for taking such a suspicious picture.
I keep getting hits from people searching for "run around in a darkened room munching pills and listening to repetitive music..." Kristian Wilson, who was (is?) the CEO of Nintendo, uttered this phrase long ago; I blogged this quote months ago because I thought it was so amusing. Apparently, a ton of other people do, too! See the full list of ways people find my site.
"Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all run around in a darkened room munching pills and listening to repetitive music." - Kristian Wilson, CEO, Nintendo Gaming Corporation, Inc, 1989
The Golden Globe awards last night weren't too bad. I was proud of Jennifer Connelly for her work in A Beautiful Mind (although the movie's less than perfect). I was also happy to see a lot of the stars there, especially Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, and Cameron Diaz. Harrison Ford received a long overdue special award, and although it was nice to see Sissy Spacek win a best actress award (for In the Bedroom), I thought the whole acception speech could have greatly improved with the presence of some pig's blood. Jeremiah has a fun description of our Carrie-esque desires on his site.
