I Love You to Death is on Comedy Central. Hells yeah!
Marlon (Keanu Reeves): "If we're gonna waste the dude, we oughta get paid for it. I mean, that's the American way, ain't it?"

In other news ... NYU students: I am co-editing the university's newest film theory and criticism journal. If you have an original piece for publication --a film review, analytical essay, and/or other film-related material -- please email me. Thanks!

Toddshot says this is the best picture ever. It just could be!

Call me a spoilsport. I watched the Olympics' introduction tonight -- and during the opening ceremony, various Native American tribes performed ritual dances. Immediately afterwards, white actors were ushered in to reenact the 19th century settling of Utah. Did the Olympics planning committee think it would be slightly ironic to remove Native American tribes from the stage and bring in white settlers? Odd...

Man, and I was in such a good mood after making my bitchin' mix tape. This is why I don't watch the Olympics!

10:48 PM |

My flamboyant mix tape came out just to my liking! The tracklist is as follows:

Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough
George Michael - Freedom 90
New Order - True Faith, Bizarre Love Triangle
Duran Duran - Union of the Snake
Stray Cats - Stray Cat Strut
The Knack - My Sharona
Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus, Enjoy the Silence, Policy of Truth
Duran Duran - Planet Earth
Robert Palmer - Addicted to Love
The Flying Lizards - Money
Soft Cell - Tainted Love
The Replacements - I Will Dare
Blondie - Call Me
Nena - 99 Luftballons
Mission of Burma - Max Ernst
New Order - Blue Monday
Erasure - A Little Respect
Duran Duran - Girls on Film

I still have a bit of space left on the tape. Any suggestions?

5:18 PM |

I'm so excited to make a mix tape later today! It will include rockin' 80s beats by New Order, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, George Michael, The Cars, Erasure, Billy Idol, The Knack (technically, 1979), The Clash, Stray Cats, The Go-Go's, The Replacements, as well as some of those random 80s hits like "Tainted Love," "I Melt With You," and "Der Kommissar."

This is AWESOME!

"Black and orange stray cat sittin' on a fence, ain't got enough dough to pay the rent. I'm flat broke but I don't care, I strut right by with my tail in the air. Stray cat strut I'm a ladies cat, I'm a feline Casanova hey man that's that! Get a shoe thrown at me from a mean old man, get my dinner from a garbage can."

1:18 PM |

Tonight was NYU's Color Sync student film festival. There were about a dozen films screened - by far, the wittiest movie was about a young man and his close relationship with his cat. More tomorrow!

I'm going to be late because I've been listening to "Just Can't Get Enough" by Depeche Mode on repeat all morning. If you don't own it, buy it, download it, wear the T-shirt. I'm seriously thinking about making up a dance to the song.

Oooh...rejected iMac designs. Thanks to Rich for the dilly!

Emily put a Duran Duran poll up! You know you want to choose which DD member has the biggest ego. Don't you?

I was reviewing my site stats today, and realized over the past few weeks, I've gotten 72 hits from people searching for photos of a nude Audrey Tautou (the actress from Amelie), 57 requests for Diana Riggs nude, not to mention a ton of queries for nude photos of Russell Crowe, Penelope Cruz, Wil Wheaton, Jennifer Connelly, Chris Klein, and the actresses from Mulholland Drive. (By blogging this, I am further manipulating the search engines. But I thought it was too odd not to mention - especially since I am unfortunately lacking in a collection of nude celebrity photos). However...I did receive an autographed, glossy 8x10 photo from David Lee Roth when I wrote fan mail to him in 1992. But David Lee Roth is clothed in the photo.

I must have listened to my tape of Duran Duran's Seven & the Ragged Tiger ten times in the past two days. "Somebody shaking my tree, maybe that somebody is me. I'm standing in the light, but I'm making a break for the shadows on the cinema wall! They should be mine, but I'm not that tall. Now I'm saying this in private - if i had a car I'd drive it. Insane!!!"

More American graffiti.

Extra, extra.

Believe it or not, there's a Jeremiah lurking behind the glass. Do you believe it?

Darn tree-hugging rats.

Here's Jeremiah posing with the police officers.

Bad boys, bad boys.

Sirens not only provide good sound effects in rockin' techno music...they serve a police-related purpose as well.

Veselka has good coffee.

4:51 PM |

Intrigued by the neverending sirens and helicopters this afternoon, Jeremiah and I ventured towards the World Economic Forum brouhaha. There were countless police officers on foot, bikes, vans, you name it. There was a big crowd of protesters, surrounded by a couple hundred police officers equipped with nightsticks, handcuffs, tear gas, the works, not to mention a ton of paddywagons, correction buses, and news reporters. A ton of protesters got arrested. It's pretty wild ... I can still hear the sirens wailing. We took a lot of pictures and I will post them later today!
