Which actually reminds me of a conversation I had the other night with my roommate who agreed with me that American history -- or any nation's history -- is manipulated and often represented to favor the particular country in which the book discusses or was published. She hopes one day to write an essay whose thesis is, "Manhattan calls the Lincoln Tunnel as such because President Lincoln was assassinated while driving through it." I think she may be on to something.
