New York City is unofficially under the wrath of the weather controllers! A few minutes ago Dana, Fiona and I were loitering outside of Tisch when all of a sudden a dark cloud quickly rolled over the sky and and we heard a crash after the wind picked up then a boom and then lots of people running and trash cans flying across the street and scaffolding coming down then it started pouring and lightning and the thunder was crashing and windows were apparently flying down from high, high apartment buildings rendering the lives of passersby in peril.

It ruled. I took lots of photos, to be posted as soon as I get home.

If you're in town and have no plans, come to the Cinema Studies Student Conference! There are a lot of great paper presentations today by students, and tomorrow there will be even more (including mine, so be there or be square). Oh yeah ... there's going to be lots of free food too!

Just finished a small part in Jeremiah's new film, playing an enthusiastic bookstore customer / fan. Our cast and crew almost got kicked out of the bookstore. It ruled! It's nice and hot and sunny, so I'm going to head over to Washington Square Park, where there are multiple distractions from the obscene amount of reading I have to do for classes. Score!

Botchy balls, MTV aired the coolest special last night on censored music videos. They played several fully uncut, uncensored videos such as Warrant's "Cherry Pie" (objectification of women), Sir Mix A Lot's "Baby Got Back" (objectification of women, although my roommate and I believe the song does have a somewhat good message), The Cardigans' "My Favourite Game" (Nina puts a rock on the steering wheel and cruises through the desert, ultimately ending in a collision with her band's tour bus - self-reflexive, perhaps, the video rules), Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" (an all-around wild video with tons of sex, drugs and rock n' roll - I have never seen this video prior, it's damn bad-ass), and the finale of Michael Jackson's "Black or White," in which he breaks a car windshield. Really, I don't see why that's so bad. 1980s bands from Duran Duran to Van Halen flipped tables over in slow motion in their videos. It's a double standard, I tell you! But MTV failed to include Duran Duran's "Girls on Film" in their special. I thought it was strange because it's one of the first music videos banned, not to mention it was banned in the US and the UK. At any rate, it's nice to see MTV does offer quality programming.
