I rented Wet Hot American Summer, a comedic nostalgia piece on the adventures of the last day of a summer camp set in 1981. I can't say it was a terrific film, but there is no way I can deny the brilliance of any product of members of "The State," one of my alltime favorite sketch comedy shows. Many scenes left me laughing uncontrollably -- particularly those featuring random and excessive violence, profanity, and slow-motion running scenes. Michael Ian Black and Ken Marino ("The State" cast members) Paul Rudd (in my opinion, a very underrated actor), Amy Poehler (always funny these days on "Saturday Night Live") David Hyde Pierce, and Janeane Garofalo were especially good. Additionally, any film with an '80s summer camp setting has got to be awesome!
This afternoon, I will be heading back to Philly for a few days -- a much-needed break from schoolwork and NYC! I haven't been home in four months or so - it will be nice to relax, see non-$10 movies (ridiculous!), and spend late nights and diners with my friends back home. Despite a slower Internet connection, I'll most likely keep posting and updating the site from home.
American Psycho 2: All American Girl. I thought the scathing satire of 1980s Wall Street was perfect for the book and the first film. Is this really necessary?
Additionally, it looks as if the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is official. And Michael "money-filled briefcases exploding in air in slow-motion" Bay is producing.
