It sucks that so many of my favorite 80s songs are on cassette, not CD, format; hence, these songs have no place on my mix CDs. These unfortunately-omitted songs include "Don't You Want Me" by the Human League, " "Space Age Love Song" by A Flock of Seagulls," "Love Stinks" by The J. Geils Band," "Scoundrel Days" by A-ha, "Shadows on Your Side" by Duran Duran, "Turn to You" and "Head Over Heels" by the Go-Go's, "How Soon is Now" by The Smiths, "Tesla Girls" by Orchestral Maneouvres in the Dark, and "I Melt With You" by Modern English.
I love "Take on Me" by A-ha and "What I Like About You" by The Romantics, but I unfortunately do not own either one of them on any format. The horror, the horror!
Since I inevitably grow tired of my mix CDs within minutes of making them, I'm sure I'll be compiling another one sometime soon. Any suggestions? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Frank Rich wrote a really excellent article on Eminem in the New York Times recently. Judging by the trailer and the early reviews, I think 8 Mile is going to be a pretty good film.
