WATCH SHANNON AND LINDSAY EXPLORE NEW YORK CITY:

On Thursday, the twenty-fourth of March, my friend Shannon arrived in New York for a weekend vacation. She and I were pals as tots, and then in high school we reunited and discovered a shared love for the music of Simon & Garfunkel. In fact, we attended S&G's "Old Friends" tour in October of aught-three.

Shannon immediately made herself useful in 505 by changing our burned-out light bulb. She is taller than both me and Dina.
On Friday night we visited Times Square — the blinking, flashy intersection in the middle of a city that never sleeps anyway:
Times Square is home to the most incredible Toys "Я" Us store I've ever seen. To be honest, I wasn't even that enamored with Toys "Я" Us until I saw this one. Part of its awesomeness can be attributed to the presence of a huge Ferris Wheel in the middle of the three-level store.
This picture expertly captures the psychedelic atmosphere of the escalators, which were pretty cool.
There was a terrifying Tyrannosaurus rex that roared every few minutes with great regularity. It was almost as if it was a machine.

I have to say, though, that this T. rex would probably lose in a fight to the death with the one that guards Wall Drug in South Dakota. I'm just saying.
Shannon and I, being avid Star Wars fans (she even more than I, I sadly must admit) searched in vain for a display having to do with the Jedi. There should have been one, considering there was that dinosaur, a Barbie mansion, and a Spider-Man figure on the wall, but there was nothing.

The closest I could find was this light fixture, which vaguely resembles the Death Star.
After taking in our fill of blinking lights, we subway-ed it back to Rubin!
