Assorted New York City pictures:

Soon after our lovely snowstorm, the temperature suddenly rose drastically. Washington Square Park became a giant puddle:
Washington Mews, the cute private street between Fifth Avenue and University Place, fared no better:
On Friday, February 4, I went to see King Kong with some friends. Here is part of the group (Susanna of Oklahoma, whose birthday it was, is on the right):
Also, look at the awesome bracelet Grace Carlson made for me — it's the one closest to my hand:
On Sunday the 6th of February, I went walking through the East Village. On my way east I passed these cool buildings on Broadway, which look dangerously similar to dominoes:
I soon decided to visit Tompkins Square Park, between Avenues A and B. I took St. Mark's Place there, which is one of my favorite streets in the whole city:
Here it is — Tompkins Square:
St. Mark's leads straight into the park — here is the western entrance, which is also where St. Mark's Place meets Avenue A.
Walking back to Rubin on my other favorite East Village street, E. 9th, I photographed some nifty fire escapes:
Later that day, I met five others from my Russian class for dinner at the Ukrainian East Village Restaurant, located inside the Ukrainian National House on Second Avenue and 9th St.:

In case you're interested, the Cyrillic writing is pronounced "ookranski naroadni deem."
The next day I took this picture on the way back to Rubin from a library branch on Sixth Avenue and 10th St. West 10th is very attractive, though in a different way from the East Village:
This sculpture is in Madison Square Park, which is across 23rd St. from the Flatiron Building. I have a theory re. its meaning. You see, ever since I calculated the angle formed by Broadway and Fifth Ave. at this intersection, I believe that this sculpture represents in three dimensions the two triangles formed by the 24.22° crossing of streets. What do you think?
And lastly, as I walked back from work on 42nd St. on Feb. 9, I caught this view of the MetLife tower (which stands over Madison Square). I've never seen it pink before.
