The Works of M.C. Escher
M.C. Escher’s
works have always been a fascinating subject. Whether they are his
tessellations that often reveal multiple images in one viewing or his
abstract
works that express the conflict of two and three dimensions, Escher
never fails
to impress his audience. One set of his prints that are particularly
mind-boggling are his works on “impossible objects”. In these artworks,
Escher
presents several structures that are an architectural impossibility.
But these
structures, impossible though they may be, are actually a phenomenal
product of
both mathematical ideas and artistic talent.
In this website, I provide an analysis of one of his work, Belvedere, in the
hopes that the reader will better understand the logic and thought
process behind his creations.
