◊ Text Messaging: Causing Finger Strain? ◊
While text messaging has become wildly popular among cell phone users, the time spent typing out a text message on your cell phone may be costing you more than just the 5-10 cents per message.
According to British researchers, cell phone text messaging is becoming a leading cause of repetitive strain injuries of the fingers and wrists. The number of adults suffering from sore and stiff fingers and wrists has increased by an estimated percentage of 38% over the past five years. This may correspond to the more than 93 million text messages sent out every day. While the average text message user sends fewer than 20 messages per day, the most at risk of repetitive strain injuries are those 10% of users who send more than 100 messages a day.
