How do Inventors Create Inventions ?

in•vent  to produce (as something useful) for the first time through the use of the imagination or of ingenious thinking and experiment - Merriam Webster

One way to learn about how to create an invention is to learn how other inventors think.  By learning about inventors, we get a glance into their thought processes.

Your assignment is to give an in class presentation about a famous inventor from the list at the MIT-Lemelson Website.  Follow my instructions in class on how to choose the proper inventor for your presentation.

If the MIT-Lemelson Website is blocked from school, will will use the About.com List of Inventors, which should be available.  Listen carefully in class as to which website we will use for the assignment of inventors.

You will use a number of PowerPoint slides (see my model) to convey your message.

Remember that these slides are only an aid to your presentation, and are not the presentation itself.
The text of what you will say must be written in the notes section of the PowerPoint.
Citations for research sources are required
URL's (identify the website) for the images you use are required.
DO NOT USE CLIP ART !

Please read my list of inventor profile questions to help you develop your slides.

A rubric is available for this project !  Good luck.

Don't forget to use several sources of information for your presentation.  The sources must be cited in my format at the end of the presentation on the required slide. You can use URL's only to cite your images. Consider using the school library or one of the online student resources from the library for research sources.

DO NOT USE Wikipedia, Answers.com or related "encyclopedic" online sources for this assignment.  Try to use "unique" sources related to stories about the inventor.
