Welcome to My Recommended New York City Steakhouses
The Good, The Better and The Best
Admittedly,
I was never a fan of steak or steakhouses. The meat tended never to be
done the way I wanted it - medium rare would be too bloody, medium
would be overcooked. I had come to think that my tastebuds differed
somewhat from all the people who raved about steak and paid exorbitant
prices to eat at those uppity institutions called steakhouses.
That is, until I came to New York.
I
was re-introduced to the concept of steakhouses by a friend; a New
Yorker born and bred. He knew his steaks indeed. A few days after
touching down in JFK, he brought me to experience what a real New York
steakhouse should be like. I cannot think of a more appropriate or
better symbol of that than Peter Luger's in Brooklyn.
On hindsight perhaps it was not a good idea to try the best first,
because every subsequent steak seemed a bit of a disappointment.
Nonetheless
I have taken the liberty to rank the top 10 steakhouses in New York
City (this is purely my opinion). I have already revealed my number one
choice, but I continue down the ranks with an evaluation system based
on personal experience, recommendations from friends, and the opinions
of people I believe are pretty much experts when it comes to anything
to do with steak.
