DJ Taku, who is known for working as the duo that is popularly known as "M-flo", makes this list due to his recognizable, and massively influential style. His work, more than 99% of work done similar in the United States for pop stars,
is musically sophisticated, and a great deal more complex. I confess, however, that "M-flo"'s rapper half (known as Verbal) does not make this list (the image and talent associated is musically more or less an effect of western hip-hop,
with nothing genuinely Japanese or, well, genuine about him.) Fortunately however, that doesn't change the fact that DJ Taku's work outshines that of Verbal, and he has done a great deal of work outside his partnership with him, producing
for artists such as Crystal Kay, Utada Hikaru, and BoA.
The most important thing to notice about DJ Taku is his mastery of electronic instrumentation. His work is, especially when compared to most other mainstream pop-produers, very intricate. His sampling ability is creative, and often
creates an effect of newness and originality. It has to be said, though, that strictily due to the quantity of work available from DJ Taku and M-flo, it is often times hit-or-miss.
