Mondo Grosso, or Shinichi Osawa, makes the top five list of my favorite Japanese Producer/DJs because of his consistent compositional style. It's easy to point out the jazz influences in his electronic and club-oriented works, and his close contact with many of these other producers makes his body of work shine. While not as particularly recognizable as many of his counterparts, he has produced so many hits and done work with so many artists that it's impossible to not put him in the top five.

He has done work with artists such as BoA, Cornelius, and Monday Michiru. As of last year, he released his first solo album under the name of "Shinichi Osawa". His origins stem, different from most other Producer/DJs on this site, primarily from dance/club music rather than pop. The amount of work that he has done with major pop stars, then, signifies how closely those two genres are in Japan. He has an interesting take on the kind of sounds that can be included in dance music, representing an interesting solution to probably what many other musicians dislike about the genre (repetiveness, predictability, among other things.)
