I include this last section mostly as a confession that Japan, along with other eastern countries such as Korea, have many more artists both mainstream and indie that bring a lot to the evolution and development of the pop music genre. Many of these bands that I enjoy (such as Clazziquai Project, who are Korean) did not make this list because it would have been too exhaustive--but their work is nevertheless very influential in forming the future direction of the industry.

Primarily, I also wanted to note that many of the VERY early influences of the Japanese pop music genre that I am aware of were left off this list. Ryuichi Sakamoto is a great example, along with the classics such as Pizzicato Five. Their work is felt through every aspect of today's current music. Ryuichi's current work continues to be inspiring, but in an entirely different genre than that he was involved in during his time with the Yellow Magic Orchestra.

Other artists from Japan that I like have songs that are particularly noteworthy in making a point about the Japanese pop industry, but are not consistent enough to merit a place on this list. These artists include Rip Slyme, among others. Also please remember that this website is ONLY dedicating the work of Japanese POP producer/DJs, and is not exhaustive. These artists additionally have a very heavy electronic influence--other Japanese artists whose work I admire perhaps even more than these ones DO exist, but are not mentioned on this site in order to keep it organized and user-friendly.

Thank you for visiting my website and I hope I was successful in showing you something you hadn't heard before!
