Towa Tei is a Japanese/American producer/DJ who has been around the electronic music scene of Japan for a comparatively long time. After moving to New York in the late 80s, he has since returned to Japan to produce with a number of solo artists and simultaneously release work under his own name. His style is very unique when compared to other Japanese producer/DJs. His work is not formulaic or similar to itself (such as DJ Taku and Coltemonikha) and therefore can be entirely different according to who he's producing for.

Towa Tei has done work with Kylie Minogue, beginning in the 80's, all the way up to a 2005 album entitled "Flash" that featured her in it's hit song "Sometime Samurai." He has done work with Bonnie Pink, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Bebel Gilberto. Of course, what he's known best for (which is in my opinion, not one of his best works) is producing for the late 80s band "Deee-Lite", which managed to have considerable success in the United States for some time.

He is currently producing for Ayuse Kozue, and there is no word of any future albums produced under his own name (but even after his "Works Best" album, he has produced both "Flash" and "Flasher", a remix album of the first.)
