Question: How comfortable are you answering questions about your presentation?
Rating Scale: ( 0 = Very Uncomfortable and 10 = Very Comfortable)
Out of 235 people who presented at the conference, 65 completed the pre-conference survey and 45 completed the post-conference survey. However out of the data submitted only 39 records were usable.
| Participant | Pre-Survey (14) | Post-Survey (14) | Because of your experience at the Student Academic Conference, did your comfort level with answering audience questions (increase, decrease, no change) (Post 15) | Briefly explain how speaking at the Student Academic Conference either made you feel more comfortable or less comfortable with answering audience questions (Post 16) |
7 | 8 | increase | The more questions that were asked the more I realized I knew the information well, and could speak about it in a understandable manner.
8 | 10 | no change | no change
7 | 8 | increase | I actually knew how to answer them. I suprised myself with my ability to use what I knew to explain our reasoning for the study.
8 | 9 | no change | None. I complete that function at my job on a regular basis.
10 | 10 | increase | The reason that I felt it increased was these were people that I look up to in college, and I was a little worried about looking stupid. Since I didn't I think that it helped in that area.
0 | 9 | increase | there was no change really, i answered questions the first time I presented.
7 | 10 | increase | It was the first time I had to answer questions and it was not as hard as I thought it would be.
5 | 0 | increase | Just gained more experience
6 | 8 | increase | It helped prepare me for the Red River Psychology Conference, gave me an overall feel of what people may ask.
5 | 10 | no change | No one asked questions
3 | 1 | no change | I didn't feel that knowledgable about what I was presenting. I didn't feel totally comfortable answering questions. My teacher was there also, so that made me extra nervous.
7 | 9 | no change |
0 | 10 | no change |
10 | 10 | no change | I had a different sot of presentation so I wanted people to ask about it to clarify my experience for them anyway.
9 | 9 | increase |
8 | 10 | increase | By talking to others about what I have sone not only makes me understand what I have done better, hopefully it has inspired someone else.
5 | 10 | no change |
8 | 10 | no change | none
8 | 10 | no change | The audience did not ask questions which were difficult to answer.
4 | 7 | increase | Answering question allowed for me to better interpret to people what I was doing and why. It also allowed for me to know what part of my speach needs added information.
9 | 9 | increase | It made me think about some things that I had not thought about before.
5 | 7 | increase | The questions were easier than I thought. Perhaps the reason why is that no one in the room other than my instructor and friend from class had heard about music therapy before.
10 | 10 | no change |
5 | 3 | no change |
6 | 7 | increase | I was asked questions I had never thought about and that was nice to think about it in a context I never considered it
7 | 9 | no change |
9 | 10 | increase | You will not fear that which you are prepared for.
5 | 9 | increase | I was able to answer the questions without to much hesitation and to answer the question that was asked directly rahter than trying to avoid the question.
10 | 10 | no change |
8 | 10 | no change |
3 | 7 | increase | I thought that I was able to answer most of the questions that people asked me. At first I didn't think I would be able to. Now I realize I knew more about what I was presenting then I thought to begin with.
5 | 10 | no change | I was very familiar with my topic, so questions were no threat to me. In addition, there was no one in my audience who was even relatively familiar with my topic, so the questions were very general.
6 | 8 | no change | Very few questions were asked of me to guage whether or not my comfort level truly changed.
0 | 5 | increase | not many ppl in room and they weren't itimidating so no problem
10 | 10 | increase | Answering questions gives me the opportunity to share more knowledge with people about a topic that I feel very knowledgeable about.
7 | 10 | increase | I knew the material like I had said before, so I think that getting hit with different questions just allows me to refine my answering skills more
7 | 7 | increase | I didn't have a lot of questions, but the ones I did answer allowed me to point to some very specific examples that I didn't have have time talk about during my presentation. That experience assured me that I did understand my topic and was able to think
6 | 9 | increase | I am experienced in this area so had little problem
0 | 9 | increase | The group I spoke to was small-- although I had hoped for a much larger group for education reasons. They allowed me to remain comfortable. Some of the questions I did not have answers for and was able to comfortably state that.
