Responses to Questions from the Post-Conference Survey

Out of 235 people who presented at the conference, 65 completed the pre-conference survey and 45 completed the post-conference survey.  However out of the data submitted only 39 records were usable.

Participant 40.  If you could, would you present again at the Student Academic Conference? 41.  Are you eager to do more with your topic, such as present at another conference, do more research, or submit for publication to a scholarly journal? 42.  Briefly describe how the conference may have impacted you:
Yes Yes I am taking my poster presentation to the Minnesota Academy of Science next week.
Yes Yes I have thought about writing more creative short stories and possibly turning my work into a children's book for publication.
Yes No It was a great experience and I am glad it did it. I would recommend it to anyone. I am also glad that I did a presentation rather than a poster, the feedback from the audience was helpful.
Yes Yes The conference was a positive experience overall. It gave me an opportunity to present my research to non-traditional audiences which would typically have no interest in the research as a whole. This is what I will have to do in my chosen field (City Management) on a daily basis.
Yes Yes I think that the positive impact comes from being able to share what I do with others. As well as refining my speaking skills in what I would consider a more real world application.
Yes No It was nice to be in such an atmosphere, where there were all subject matters of academia and study around me, where my peers were also presenting, and taking an interest in academia.
Yes No It was a rewarding experience. I am now able to say that I did one. And I am looking foreward to doing more in the future
Yes No Presenting gave me more practice and experience for presenting at future conferences and will hopefully help my chances of getting into grad school
Yes Yes Receiving feedback made me want to continue this study and also made me want to continue sharing my findings.
Yes Yes
Yes Yes I definitly see the power in research. It does make me want to do more. This time on a topic that I chose so I can have more a feel of ownership to it. I have a strong desire to improve my speaking skills thanks to the academic conference.
Yes Yes
Yes Yes I liked the confidence boost the conference gave me. Speaking to others and anwering their questions made me sure of my knowledge.
Yes Yes I think I now know that what I've written impacts people who see it, whether they know what I'm about or not. They can hear the words I wrote and be moved by them.
Yes Yes I saw several approaches to presenting research findings, and was able to pick up some good ideas
Yes Yes
Yes Yes
Yes Yes Pride in our work. people recognize what we have been doing.
Yes No It allowed me to share my research with non-forensics people.
Yes Yes I plan on presenting at the Minnesota Academy of Science later this month.
Yes Yes It showed that people were interested in my topic.
Yes Yes It definately increased my self-esteem in that I know I can do something like this again, and perhaps fairly well.
Yes Yes -
Yes No
Yes Yes
Yes Yes Gave me another opportunity to practice with my public speacking skills
Yes Yes
Yes No I was able to share my research and argue my viewpoint on the topic and discuss it with others that stopped by to ask me questions.
Yes Yes
Yes Yes Just gives me more experience for future projects/presentations.
Yes Yes ?~
Yes No The conference was a good, relatively non-threatening experience of the institute of Academic Conferences. Since the research field is a serious consideration for my career choice, the Conference gave me an idea of "real" researchers do.
Yes No Increased my time management abilities and interest in topic.
Yes No it was a good experience but key note speaker and others were way to long
Yes Yes The conference was very good and beneficial to me and the people that stopped to talk with me. I had the chance to educate others about a topic that many dont really understand completely
Yes Yes Our data was not yet significant (p<.05) so a larger sample size will be needed to finish the experiment.
Yes Yes I don't know about presenting it somewhere else, but I am definately interested in learning more about the topic.
Yes Yes I found it a great experience to present and wish I would have attended last year. I learned some facinating information. There were presentations I would have loved to have heard but time would not allow.
Yes Yes It showed me that the information I have is important. I may even be able to build a career out of educating others on Human Rights. The presentation at the A.C. helped me to decide to do this.
