Responses to Questions from the Post-Conference Survey

Out of 235 people who presented at the conference, 65 completed the pre-conference survey and 45 completed the post-conference survey.  However out of the data submitted only 39 records were usable.

Participant 35.  To what extent has presenting at the conference contributed to your understanding of your topic?  (0 = No Impact and 10 = Major Impact) 36.  Briefly explain how presenting at the Student Conference had an impact on your understanding of your topic:
5 Not much, I presented on a topic that I already understood.
6 Presenting it made me proud of my work, therefore I feel I will retain this information for a long time and use it in the future.
0
0 None.
3 Again I think that it always helps to practice. I think that the greatest benifit to me was being able to hear others reactions to what I do and some of the examples that I use, as during the season the same people see to hear me most of the time.
3 no major change.
0 no impact
3 just a refresher on the paper
2 It didn't really increase my understanding, but made me more aware of how to better help others understand the information.
8
5 didn't
1 same answer as the previous question...
5
0
8 Being able to express what I've learned to others helped me realize what I, myself, learned
0
0
8 none
0
5
7 It made me more aware of my topic and how others feel about it and what I might need to improve.
0
1
8 hearing the other presenters talk about our research completed the story.
0
7 I reviewed what I had learned the semester before
0
5 Whether I had presented or not I would still have the same amount of understanding.
10
0
7 Made me have to look into the topic a little more in depth
0
6 Presenting forced me to learn my material more thoroughly and be prepared to present, answer questions, etc.
6 received diff. views on the subject from audience
8 By people asking questions, it has caused me to think more about the issue and other ways to address it.
10 It only helped since I had to prepare something formal and was able to understand my data better.
9 Again, I had to dig a little deeper into the topic to be sure I was able to answer potential audience questions.
2 I noticed the nodding of many heads of the women in the audience when we addressed particular topics that verifed my opinions and the results of the results.
