Published February 2006 Writing Musical Theater (with Allen Cohen)
Writing Musical Theater is a no-nonsense approach for composers, lyricists, and librettists interested in writing musicals. The book is written in two parts. Part I. The Elements, takes the reader through chapters about Theater Basics, The Idea, The Libretto, The Characters, The Lyrics, and The Music. Part II. Writing a Show, gives the reader a chance to "look over our shoulders" as we go through the process of starting two book musicals, one based on Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper and the other an original idea. There are several appendices as well: A Brief Historical Overview, Tools, Logistics and Legalities, and Required Reading (and Listening) If you're just getting started, you'll need this book. If you're already doing writing for musical theater, you'll want this book.

Music-Print Productions: Introduction to Music Publishing and Printing, 1994, revised 1997
In 1995 Steven Rosenhaus developed a course of study for NYU students majoring in Music Business or Composition, which was then accepted as a requirement for those students. The course, Introduction to Music Publishing and Printing, at first started with several different textbooks, as no one text covered the important material. To fill in the gap, Rosenhaus wrote and published the book himself. Topics covered include these selections and others: A brief history of music publishing; how publishers operate; the editorial process; engraving processes; sales and distribution; copyright. Introduction to Music Publishing and Printing is currently out-of-print; for inquiries, contact Steven Rosenhaus directly.
