Research Assistants
Patrice Ryce is a second year doctoral student in the School Psychology Program. She graduated in 2006 with a degree in psychology from Princeton University. Patrice currently serves as the Project Director for the Longitudinal Immigrant Families and Teachers Study (LIFTS). She can be reached at pryce@nyu.edu
Madeeha Mir is a Senior Research Assistant who has worked in lab for past 2 years. She is a 3rd year Counseling Psychology doctoral student. She received her B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of West Florida. Her research interests include acculturation and psychological well-being among South Asian and Muslim communities; ethnic identity and multicultural counseling. Brian Collins is a second year doctoral student in Multilingual/Multicultural studies. Prior to coming to NYU Brian has done research on language competence and psychopathology in bilingual populations at the Harvard Medical School and was a former bilingual educator in the Boston Public Schools. His research interest include the study of immigrant children and the intersection of language and psychological development. He is the Project Director for the PTE research team and works with Madeeha and Marie on the NYCASE project.
Sukhmani Singh is a doctoral student in Developmental Psychology. She earned her B.A from City College of New York in Psychology. Research interests are youth identity negotiation and development in adverse circumstances. She is currently the research lab manager and working on the LIFTS project.
Marie Onaga is a first year doctoral student in Psychological Development. Prior to coming to NYU, Marie completed her Ed.M. and CAS degrees in Risk and Prevention and Adjustment Counseling at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has worked as a counselor in public middle- and high schools in Boston, run an afterschool program in a low-income housing development, and as a research coordinator for several projects at Harvard. She is interested in the identity development of immigrant youth, particularly in the contexts of language, ethnicity, and risk and resilience. She is working with Madeeha and Brian on the NYCASE project.
Christine Cheng Christine Cheng is current senior in the Applied Psychology Undergraduate Program at NYU. Her interests include working with immigrant populations, promoting multicultural awareness and research in the academic settings. She can be contacted at cwc281@nyu.edu
  Dalal Katsiaficas graduated from NYU in 2007 with a B.S. in Applied Psychology. She has worked on both the MAIN and LIFTS studies as a research associate. Her research interests include identity development and negotiation in socio-political context. She plans to pursue a doctoral degree in Psychological Development.   Kyung-hyun Kwon
  Natalie Zuckerman is a senior in the Applied Psychology Undergraduate Program. She is working on the LIFTS study and the Pilot study. She is interested in education and public policy. In the Spring she will be traveling to Ghana with a group of students and professors to examine education in the context of change and to research the effect of emerging crises on the educational system. Upon graduation she plans to pursue her interest in sustainable living and environmental policy by working on an organic farm.
