12.9.03 AND SO IT BEGINS
Last day of classes today. Should be a joyous occasion, but instead I've been dreading it because that means finals are within the week. I have a review session for American Constitution on Thursday and the final is on Tuesday, along with my Mass Media and Society (aka hell) paper. Someone asked how many multiple choice questions there'd be on the final, we're thinking like 10 because there's also short answer and long essays, and our professor says calmly, "About 60, maybe more, I haven't decided yet," and adds for our relief, "but you get to choose which 50 you answer." PHEW. Sure we have 2 hours to do this, but the midterm alone (3 essays, no multiple choice or short answer) took me 65 out of the 75 minutes and I was the first one out. I'm in trouble.

Next semester I'm definitely going to have to uninstall AIM and block all non-educational websites because I am going to help with this project that one of my professors is working on at Media Tenor, a media content analysis organization. Basically I'll look through the main newspapers (NY Times, DC Post, LA Times, WSJ, etc.) for any mention of any of the presidential candidates, which I then code and sort by candidate, positive or negative media, who else was involved, etc. In the end, all the information is going to be put into a report and documented in a book in an effort to begin to set up journalistic standards in US election coverage, which I am all for. But say goodbye to my sanity....

This is a little dated, but Thanksgiving was a lot of fun. Tot's aunts and other family members were really nice. Everytime Tot did or said basically anything, both of her aunts were like "Karen [Tot's mom]. You are totally Karen. So Karen." Tot would give me a look and they'd laugh about how even that look was "Karen, just like Karen." It was funny. We played Pictionary, taught Colleen and Kylie how to play Drug Dealer, went to an Amish store, went to the mall, and went to Fort Drum. Most days this is what our daily schedule was like: wake up at noon, eat, start cooking awesome Tati/Colleen food, eat it, cook more, eat more, play with Collin (Tat's 4 year-old-cousin), cook, eat, go to sleep, repeat. It was so nice. Needless to say, we missed it when we got back to our cold, empty New York City apartments.

Speaking of apartments, I've gotta go pass out flyers for our movies this week. If you live in the city, we have Along Came Polly tomorrow in Chelsea at 6 and Girl Next Door Thursday at 66th and 2nd.

Or, en francais, a coin de 66e et 2e. I did pretty well on my final and oral test today.

Au revoir.....

11.26.03 HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Tot and I are leaving for Watertown in like 20 minutes. We'll be back on Sunday! Have a nice Turkey (or NON-Turkey) day!
